Free Pickup for Large Items Not in Usable Condition
Annual Bulky Item Pickups
Each single-family home that pays trash/recycling fees is entitled to two large item pickups per year with an unlimited quantity of goods. Call MarBorg at 963-1852 for an appointment, but wait until your assigned pickup day to place items at the curb. For multi-unit buildings, the landlord or property manager may schedule the two included bulky item pickups for the entire building by calling MarBorg. Residents must gather their large items on the appropriate day.
Annual Large Appliances ("White Goods") Pickups
Under the new contract, separate from bulky item pickups, Santa Barbara residents are entitled to unlimited collection of major appliances, also known as "white goods." These include items such as stovetop ranges, refrigerators, washers and dryers, and water heater tanks. Call MarBorg at 963-1852 for an appointment, but wait until your assigned pickup day to place items out for collection.
Christmas Trees
You may place your tree next to your greenwaste bin, if you have one, on greenwaste collection days in the weeks after Christmas. Otherwise, the tree should be placed in the trash area or on the curb for your regular MarBorg collection day. Remove ornaments, tinsel, and plastic or metal tree stands. Flocked trees will not be accepted.
Paid Pickup
The following haulers will collect large items, electronics, or junk for a fee, while recycling to the maximum extent possible.
