The Area

Arroyo Grande

Two miles east of the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by farms, flower fields and wineries, Arroyo Grande features a distinct village character and a vibrant downtown shopping and dining district.

Explore the Historic Village of Arroyo Grande, the Central Coast's unique turn-of-the-century downtown village. You'll find an array of antique and specialty shops plus fine dining nestled within the scenic atmosphere of historic buildings and natural beauty.

Creston

Experience the beautiful Creston countryside filled with great wine, olive oil and food, while surrounded be beautiful rolling hills and an relaxed, laid back environment.

California Valley

California Valley is a small community located in the eastern part of San Luis Obispo County. This very flat valley is most known for its beautiful and breathtaking wildflowers that bloom every spring.

California Valley is located 90 miles east of San Luis Obispo. Popular activities include an Indian sweat lodge, hot air ballooning, bird-watching, and astronomy, due to clear skies and no light pollution. Highway 58 is also a very popular route for car and motorcycle touring enthusiasts.

Atascadero

Close to everywhere you want to be, Atascadero, the Heart of the Central Coast, offers access to hundreds of wineries, championship golf and the Central Coast's only accredited zoo.

 

Cambria

Nestled in the pines overlooking the sea, the picturesque village of Cambria enchants visitors with its historic architecture, distinctive shops and bustling art scene.

Also known as Pines by the Sea, Cambria offers visitors a chance to slow down the pace and stroll through the East or West Village shops, enjoy the beaches, go for a scenic hike, enjoy wine tasting or visit an art gallery.

Cholame

Cholame is a quiet and very small community, mostly known for the restaurant and a memorial that are dedicated to James Dean. Popular actor James Dean died on September 30, 1955 just one mile east of Cholame.

On September 30, 2005, the State of California officially commemorated the 50th anniversary of Dean's death by naming State Highways 41 and 46 as the James Dean Memorial Junction.

Avila Beach

When it's gray and gloomy elsewhere, count on the clouds to part and the sun to shine on Avila Beach. With a microclimate so consistent and a small-town charm so enduring, Avila is everyone’s favorite summer getaway. Avila Beach is all about enjoying the outdoors - the sun, the sand and the surf, as well as the small-town atmosphere.

Cayucos

Cayucos is where the old west meets the ocean. This small, oceanfront community is a return to the beachside towns of a bygone era.

Cayucos offers the quiet and stillness that only a small town surrounded by untouched countryside can provide.

Los Osos/Baywood Park

Off the beaten tourist path, Los Osos sits on the southern tidal estuary of Morro Bay, with a glassy bay, and an “eden” of feathered wildlife. With its mild climate and a friendly population it's a great destination.

This lovely, peaceful bayside community is the gateway to Montana de Oro State Park, one of the most spectacular oceanside parks in the country. The word “osos” means bear in Spanish and though you won’t find them roaming anymore, Los Osos was named for the now-extinct California grizzly.

Nipomo

Consistently sunny, delightfully quaint, Nipomo is where both horses and golf carts are welcomed equally. Nipomo is a name derived from the Chumash Indian word meaning “the foot of the hills.”

Today, Nipomo is known for its acres of flowers, lush golf courses, peaceful dunes, and perfect climate. In fact, Nipomo has made many national “best climate” lists, receiving perfect 100 scores repeatedly.

Oceano

The classic and historic beach town of Oceano is known for it’s majestic dunes, beautiful parks, fertile farm fields, and remains the only beach in California you can drive on.

Oceano is very family-friendly, from the lagoon with an abundance of wildlife, to the famous Great American Melodrama, there's fun for everyone.

Paso Robles

The City of Paso Robles, CA brings together the community’s unique history, personality and love of region, resulting in tastes that tantalize and attractions that amaze.

Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town with an unrivaled proximity to wine country, resulting in the perfect pairing of Wine & Waves.

Our nostalgic beach side community is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Pacific Coast Highway and Highway 101. Pismo Beach is home to beautiful oceanfront accommodations, admired restaurants, miles of rolling sand dunes, local wineries and a plethora of outdoor activities.

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo is the “Happiest Place in North America”. It’s is a destination rich in history and known for the unique mix of the culture, wellness, and outdoor activities.

San Luis Obispo is the nostalgic all-American town, home to the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, Cal Poly University, world-famous Thursday Night Farmers’ Market, and Bubblegum Alley. San Luis Obispo features a visitor friendly walkable downtown with the area’s best restaurants and shops.

Pozo

Pozo allows visitors to experience what California as it was in the 1800s. Pozo is most well know for the historic Pozo Saloon, which has been a San Luis Obispo County landmark since 1858.

Harmony

Nestled in the hills is a quaint, artisan town called Harmony. Here you will find a very rural community with much small town charm.

With a population of just 18, historic Harmony, California, is a unique tribute to times past, and a favorite of locals and tourists alike.

Edna Valley

The Edna Valley winds for a dozen miles from Arroyo Grande to San Luis Obispo through cypress-studded, Tuscan-style countryside, with picturesque wineries, working farms, and tempting bike trails.

The Edna Valley lies in the shadow of the volcanic mountains, with clay-rich soil perfect for growing grapes. In fact, the Edna Valley has one of California’s longest growing seasons.

Cuyama

The community of Cuyama is located in the Cuyama Valley, near the Carrizo Plain. This beautiful and dynamic rural area is surrounded by many apricot, peach, and plum orchards.

Cuyama is largely used for ranching, agriculture, and oil and gas production.

San Miguel

The San Miguel countryside one of our hidden wonders, including the historic gem of Mission San Miguel Arcangel, the 16th California mission, founded in 1797.

In the surrounding hillsides you'll find rows and rows of vineyards, almond trees, and horse and cattle ranches reminding us of an all but forgotten way of life. Come visit our vineyards and wineries, many with tasting rooms. The winding roads are perfect for bicycle rides in the country. San Simeon

Alongside scenic Highway One lie two of the best reasons to visit the Central Coast - both at the same spot: the sparkling seaside cove at San Simeon Point, and the hilltop house the Hearst built.

The small town of San Simeon is divided on either side of Highway One. The beaches on the west side offers scenic views, including - during the right time of year - migrating gray whales and an elephant seal rookery. On the east side of the Highway you'll want to tour famous Hearst Castle.

Santa Margarita

Visit Santa Margarita, gateway to north San Luis Obispo County and Carrizo Plain National Monument. Come explore our hidden Treasures! Established in 1889 with historical and modern day wonders for almost everyone.

Santa Margarita is a quiet valley village with artisan people and close knit families that enjoy the best of what California’s Central Coast offers. Warm spring and summer days are cooled by coastal evening breezes making Santa Margarita a place to truly enjoy California's outdoor life.

Shandon

Shandon is a very small, rural community filled with beautiful farming land. Shandon is most famous for Chapel Hill, a stunning private chapel built from remnants of Hearst Castle, which hosts special tours and events.

Templeton

Discover the pleasant rural community of Templeton, which has retained much of its historical character. The town is surrounded by rich agricultural land, hilly ranges with clusters of oak trees.

Templeton, California is one of the areas top wine-making regions and is a popular destination for antique shopping and gift store browsing making a very charming Main Street business district.
